What is Vedic Meditation?

Vedic Meditation is a style of meditation, often referred to as a 'transcending' or 'being' meditation practice.  Originating from an ancient linage of wisdom in the Himalayas of India, Vedic Meditation has been masterfully passed down to teachers of today and taught to students in a way that is relatable, effective and deeply relevant to modern life.  It can be practiced and enjoyed by people of all ages, from all walks of life.

The Technique:

Vedic meditation uses a personalised mantra (a silent sound) to effortlessly guide the mind inwards, transcending layers of thought to experience our natural state of inner Being- a state of pure awareness where our nervous system experiences deep rest and recovery from stress and fatigue.

This technique is simple to learn, effortless to practice, yet profoundly effective.  It is suitable for beginners and anyone who has found it difficult to sustain an independent practice.  It is easily practiced on your own without reliance on guided recordings or ongoing instruction to make it a daily habit- it can be practiced anytime, anywhere!  â€‹

To experience maximum benefits of the practice, Vedic Meditation is practiced for 20 minutes, twice a day.  There is no need for sitting cross legged or to sustain unsupported or uncomfortable positions. This meditation is practiced sitting up with your back supported in a comfortable chair- and can even be practiced in the seat of a train, plane or a stationary car!

Once correct practice is learnt, the benefits of this effortless technique can be felt and experienced straight away and anyone can learn it- even if you consider yourself a compulsive "thinker" and feel that you will never be able to learn or sustain an effective practice- if you are one of those people, this technique is just right for you!
